what's the latest on the investigation? >> reporter: where he are in the stoddard terrace neighborhood and this area has undergone positive change among the past couple of years, among the changes, a community of row houses, townhouses, has sprung up. but early this morning, the scene of a fatal shooting. i want to set the scene. take a look. an apartment at 316 ridge road. we have a wooded ridge beyond that. and that's where investigators are focusing their attention. the scene early this morning. 2:16, police reported to this area for the call of sounds of gunshots. they found a male dead in the parking lot behind us there. not much information about the victim. he may be in his teens, but not yet confirmed. investigators have been on the scene, trying to piece together whatever evidence they can to

get more information and a lookout at this point. we don't have a lookout or any sort of suspect information. again, people who live in the building are not being able to get to their parking lot today because of the investigation which continues and more on this as it becomes available. live in southeast. derek ward, news 4. d.c. police say a teenager is responsible for violent attacks on two women in ten days. police arrested 19-year-old demarco myles, charged with sexually assaulting a woman in her howard university dorm room friday afternoon, and he is facing charges for stabbing and trying to sexually assault a woman at the rhode island row apartment complex last week. that woman, still in the hospital with serious injuries. now to decision 2012. just two days to go. less than 48 hours until polls open across the country. time running out for president owe became kr and mitt romney, kicking their campaigns into

just to fill up their gas tanks. new york governor andrew cuomo says 12 million gallons of gas are headed to the region. gas rationing in northern parts of the state and shouldn't be needed anymore in a few days. for some people, the devastation is too much to bear. people are finally getting the help they need while those who can help are chipping in the best they can. news 4's jim rosenfeld, following the recovery from stat know island. >> reporter: the stuff that once made up a home, now in a heap. all along cedar grove avenue in newdorph beach. >> we have nothing. >> kelly and scott ackerman wait outside their home. >> sitting on the stoop waiting how long? >> 2 1/2 hours. >> reporter: waiting hours for an appointment with fema. a wait ackerman doesn't mind.

all bundled up. cold out there. >> it is cold out here, but for the first time in a week, we're finally seeing some sunshine. and everybody's emotions a little brighter this morning. waiting for sunshine and we're trying to get a little bit for the 5k walk. joining she jerry sorka, one of the cofounders of breathe deep d.c. he noticed the need himself when he had lung cancer. i know are you ready. look, on tv right now, jerry this worked out perfect. >> thank you, doug. it's great to be here and have so many people come out for the fourth annual event. >> you saw there was a need for lung cancer need. breast cancer, a ton of research out there not a lot toward lung cancer. >> there wasn't, and a year after i was diagnosed, i was looking for something in d.c. to do, and there was no walk in d.c. no black tie event, nothing. some friends and i and we got

together and created breathe deep d.c., and it was much bigger than i ever would have imagined. it touched a nerve. there was a real need. >> lung cancer, the biggest cancer out there. >> number one cancer killer. 200,000 people diagnosed every year. 150,000 lives lost, and we're starting to make real progress, starting to really see a difference. >> the amazing thing about lung cancer, you think if you are a smoker, better chance of getting lung cancer. you aren't a smoker. >> no. that's a real misperception. the majority of people who are diagnosed with lung cancer are either not smokers or have quit smoking. we don't think about all of the people who are getting the disease. we just kind of put it away, and now it's getting some of the light that it deserves. >> really is. and, of course, we'll have -- this is the fourth annual. we have close to 2,000 people that will come out here. ready for the walk?

a traffic alert this morning. ongoing work on the baltimore-washington parkway as crews try to finish replace braj at west nursery road. the brand new bridge was wheeled in, shutting down the northbound lanes. the $6 million project ran into problems two weeks ago when some of the load shifted, shutting down the roadway. next weekend, crews will shut down the southbound lanes to complete the work.

today, the last day for rosaliros roslyn and cemetery closures. single tracking between twin brook and grovner and forest glenn and tacoma. social media playing a big role in politics, both are using a site very popular with women to get their message across in pictures. pinterest, the site known for all things beautiful goes political, especially in d.c. >> people talk about hobbies, crafts, things like that but for and a board featuring gorgeous

states parks called where romney could drill is a hit. also the golf courses of the obama administration, romney's private jets and pages ran by those close to the candidates. michelle obama and ann romney do their share of pinning. not the biggest driver of traffic, but that's okay. >> we can take little bits of our research, papers, pull out statistics and facts and put them out in a visual way and get them up on pinterest and reach people we may not have reached any other way. >> krafrtcrafts, food and drink, photography. none of the topics are related to politics. we asked e-mail and they say they don't comment on future plans. >> the fact of the matter is, politics part of it. a lot of politically minded people on pinterest.

just days later, all three shifts were told to assemble in the warehouse. a group of people walked out on that stage and told us that the plant is now closed and all of you are fired... i looked both ways, i looked at the crowd, and...we all just lost our jobs. we don't have an income. mitt romney made over 100 million dollars by shutting down our plant and devastated our lives. turns out that when we built that stage, it was like building my own coffin, and it just made me sick. this morning. that won't be bothering us too much longer. temperatures upper 40s and low 50s today and another bundle up morning for you first thing on your monday, back to work and school, everybody. sunny, but feels a lot like december. >> thank you, chuck. a man is dead after a shooting early this morning in southeast washington. gunfire erupted after 2:00 this morning on the 300 block of ridge road southeast. police have not released the victim's name yet, but police are searching for four men who may be connected to the deadly shooting. d.c. police believe one teen is responsible for two violent attacks against women in the past ten days. police arrested 19-year-old demarco myles friday night. he is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her howard university dorm room friday afternoon. students at the school are worried for their safety after this attack. >> i do think the security really needs to skep it up. really scary. >> any idea how this guy got into your building?

deep d.c. is the largest organization to fund lung cancer research. and i want to support those who are honoring someone they lost and all those walking for people who cannot be here today. >> sarah, tell us more about longevity and breathe deep d.c. does for families and people like you. >> absolutely. longevity is an organization simply based on spreading awareness and raising lung cancer money for research. research so important and imperative for this disease, and longevity supports all of those funds to do so. >> sarah, we know you have your family out there with you today. and other victims and survivors who have their families supporting them as well. what's it like to see a big crowd come together for the krause so personal to you? >> this is just thirilling. my team alone this year is 50 people. we after the last four years have raised $1 million for lung cancer research.

welcome back. in this week's wednesday's ch d child, we meet a young man who enjoys listening and telling  stories. >> barbara harrison has his story. >> so he's coming this way, i'm coming to the curb. >> poet and professional story teller derek weston brown showed off his talent on the stage. 13-year-old emmanuel says he'd love to be someday this good at telling stories about his life experiences. >> first time catching a fast football, and i scored a touchdown and i was excited. >> reporter: and he has some real stories of courage to tell. when he's not being shy. >> emmanuel is a cancer survivor. >> reporter: and while he has stories to tell about all his heroic experiences, he has ambition to help take care of the medical needs of others.

with here. at least early on in the day. but i think as the day wear as long, our cloud cover will start to diminish and we'll end up with a lot more sun than yesterday and nowhere near as much wind. a much better feeling day outside. 44 at national airport. and generally speaking, everyone rising to the mid up ander 40s and that means we should be warmer this afternoon than yesterday. bethesda, maryland, hometown forecast. 42 right now in downtown bethesda. temperatures climb to 50 degrees by 4:00 this afternoon. as the redskins are wrapping up a win, hopefully and sun is down after 5:00 tonight, so by 7:00 p.m., back down to the low 40s and by 11:30 tonight, back to the upper 30s we will go. heading out to fedex field today, 80,000 strong pulling for a win. temperatures in the mid up to ever 40s. winds 5 to 15 miles per hour. a little bit of a bundle up factor. no rain.

dry today, tomorrow, and for election day. no excuses from the weather department to miss going to the election and voting. moisture along the gulf coast. and energy in the northern branch of the jet stream is bringing snow to the dakotas today. that energy will dye down, scoop up the moisture off the gulf coast and form a coastal storm as we get to wednesday, thursday time frame. it will need to be watched very closely. in the short term, a little coastal storm number one, not bothering us as it heads out to sea. clear skies, cold nights and chilly days. a feeling of december around here the next couple of days. high pressure off the coast of new england and a little bit of a blocking pattern and as a result. a low impact for rain here by early in the day on wednesday. but then we go to a medium impact for wind and rain around here for wednesday night, and an opportunity out west of the blueridge, we have a snow with a question mark behind it there, this will have to be watched

charlie rose: will you endorse president obama? colin powell: yes. when he took over we were in one of the... worst recessions we had seen in recent times... close to a depression. and i saw, over the next several years, stabilization... come back in the financial community. housing is starting to pick up. the president saved the auto industry. and the actions he's taken with respect to... protecting us from terrorism have been very, very solid. and so, i think we ought to keep on the track that we are on. president obama: i'm barack obama and... i approve this message.
